People are my favorite subjects to draw. When I draw someone, I like to pay special attention to the eyes, because the eyes truly are the window to the soul. Capturing someone's personality and character are what I strive for in my artwork. I draw from photographs, and anytime I get a really good photo to work from, I get very excited to start drawing! All the details in the face, the shadowing, the story the person is telling with their expression, keeps me interested as I bring my subject to life. Please check out some of my work below...

I love to draw animals. As with drawing a person, I like to capture the animal's personality. Getting a good look into their eyes helps with that. When someone looks at my animal portraits, they always tell me I did a great job in capturing their spirit. What more does an artist really want to hear? That's what we all strive for.

Sometimes I'm just really in the mood to do something different and I'll do things like what you see below. Here are some of my landscapes and buildings. I've also included a few of my soft pastel paintings, which I don't do very often. It's still fun to experiment with pastels, because I love the richness of the colors.

These are some of my old acrylic paintings from 2014. Now I mostly spend my time drawing. I never thought I'd stop painting, but once I picked up a pencil and drew my cat, I never looked back. I eventually packed up my brushes and paints, because I realized I kept going for the paper and pencils instead. It's just a completely different way of expressing myself artistically...and one bonus is, there's a lot less mess! I do love all kinds of mediums, though, and I plan to do some more painting in the near future.
