Hello! My name is Jeri. I love to draw! Ever since I was a young girl, making art was something I enjoyed with such passion. I never explored art as anything but a hobby until a few years ago. Once my three children were grown and married and I retired from my job, I decided to make art again. But eventually grandchildren came along and now the time I spend in my art room is limited.
I can remember those early childhood years, and the wonderful feeling I had when I sat down with a big sheet of drawing paper and a box of Crayola crayons in front of me. Just the smell of the crayons gave me an overwhelming sense of excitement as I looked at that piece of paper, full of anticipation. Creating art was my moment to escape and bring my imagination to life. That wonderful feeling still exists with me today. I guess now I understand it as being sort of therapeutic. Making art makes me happy, and my goal is to make others happy, too.
I am a self-taught artist who has learned what I know through lots of practice and trial and error. I'm still learning and will continue to learn for as long as I am making art. In my art discovery and exploration, I switched from painting to drawing after I pulled out some pencils and drew my cat. I realized drawing is where my passion is…where it always was. I can make something come to life with a few pencil lines, erasing, shading, and highlighting, and there's a lot less mess than when working with paints. That's a bonus! I mostly use graphite, which is the most under-rated and under-appreciated medium, but it is my absolute favorite!
Recently, I began painting again. I've always wanted to go back to it someday and I am making a slow comeback. I will never stop drawing and that will always be my favorite medium, but painting has sparked my interest once again! Some of my paintings will be posted on this website soon!
I want people looking at my artwork to know that I connected with it and that I had my hand and my heart totally present in that moment. I feel that I bring the subject to life by doing so. In fact, if you look closely, you might see a little heart in my drawings!
Thank you so much for visiting my website!
